Is a raw, intimate and striking photography shoot and exhibition celebrating the real stories behind the soloprenuers building brilliant businesses, the self-doubt, the resilience, the pressure to pretend, and the power that rises when we drop the act and get real.
I’m Joanna, branding photographer, creative director, and a bit of a story addict.
I work with solopreneurs' from any background, race and gender who are tired of generic headshots and want imagery that feels like art and hits like truth. This exhibition has been on my heart for a long time. Now I’m bringing it to life and I want you to be a part of it.
It’s for the business owner who’s ready to stop hiding.
Not just for themselves but for the people they’re here to serve.
Because people don’t buy just what you do. They buy who you are.

I’ll be photographing 30 incredible solopreneurs, each with their own powerful story.
We’ll talk about what drove you to start your business, how it's shaped your sense of self-worth, and what you've been hiding because let's be honest, we all have something.
Then, together, we’ll create a visual metaphor of those hidden parts of you.
You’ll wear a MASK - literally - and you’ll write on it using your own words. The labels, the doubts, the truths you’ve buried beneath “I’m fine.”
It’ll be raw, artistic, and honest as hell.
You’ll walk away not only with beautiful, editorial-style portraits to use in your business - but with a piece that honours everything you’ve been through and how far you’ve come.

How to Book Your Place For UNMASKED
✅ Step 1: Reserve your spot
Be available to travel to Birmingham on either the 23/24th September 2025 for the shoot!

✅ Step 2: Share your story
Once your place is confirmed, you’ll be sent a questionnaire which I will create your story from.
✅ Step 3: You’re in!
You'll get:
A confirmation email
Access to a private Facebook group to connect and share with the others involved (from August)
A physical mask sent to you to make your own (we will also discuss this in the group).
Zoom call to go through any questions and meet everyone who will be with you on your designated shoot day.

FAQs – UNMASKED
🧠 “What if I don’t feel ‘interesting enough’ to be in an exhibition?”
Oh hello, imposter syndrome - didn’t see you there. Honestly, this comes up all the time. If you've got a business and a mask you've been hiding behind (and we all do), you’ve got something powerful to share.
📸 “I hate having my photo taken. Will you help me?”
100%. You’re not expected to know what to do in front of the camera - that’s my job. I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel comfortable, confident, and fully yourself. This is about real presence, not forced poses.
🎭 “Do I have to physically wear a mask?”
Yes - but stay with me. You’ll wear a plain white mask during part of the shoot and write on it using your own words - the things you hide behind, the feelings you’ve covered up to ‘look the part’. It’s powerful, honest, and incredibly moving. And no, it’s not creepy - it’s art.
🧼 “What’s included in the hair & makeup?”
You’ll be treated to professional styling - this will be minimal make-up and hair if you wish and is optional.
🍩 “Are refreshments provided?”
Of course nobody does vulnerability well on an empty stomach. Light refreshments and drinks will be available during your slot to keep you fuelled and comfortable.
🗓️ “How will the shoot days be organised?”
The full shoot will take place over two days with specific time slots allocated for each participant. You’ll receive your time in advance so you can plan around it. No long waits, no chaos just your moment to shine.
We’ll also have a Facebook group and a Zoom call with all participants before the shoot to meet each other, talk through the full itinerary, and answer any questions. You’ll feel totally prepped, calm, and ready to go when the day arrives.
🏳️🌈 “Is this a safe and inclusive space?”
Absolutely. This space is open to all genders, identities, backgrounds, and bodies. You will be welcomed, respected, and supported exactly as you are no exceptions. Vulnerability only works when we feel safe, and that’s something I take very seriously.
👯 “Can I meet the other people involved?”
Yes! While the shoot itself you will be with me is one-one and you’ll see others turning up for their slots, the VIP exhibition event brings us all together in person. You'll meet the other brilliant humans involved, share stories, and connect in a space full of warmth and mutual respect. It’s also a great networking opportunity if you want to link up with like-minded business owners.

The venue is currently being confirmed, but it will be in Birmingham, UK. Expect a beautifully curated space worthy of the powerful work we’re creating.
